The Kayaks

Our kayaks are open deck sea kayaks and accommodate the novice paddler comfortably.  No prior experience is necessary.  All required gear is provided for you.  We have single, double and a few triple boats if you have a small child.  Our policy is that children must be at least 5 years old and feel comfortable in at sea.  Each child under 10 years of age  must be accompanied by an adult in a tandem boat (one adult per child).  Remember, we want everyone to have fun and be safe, too!

Appropriate Dress

We recommend that kayakers dress in layers (shirt, sweatshirt, etc.) so that you can adjust accordingly.  Also, wear something comfortable.  Upon arrival at the shop, we provide you with a nylon-coated splash suit that slips over your clothes (it fits like a windbreaker jacket and pant). These suits do not breathe much so you do stay warm. Therefore, we generally recommend that kayakers wear shorts and T-shirts or something that can get wet around the edges. Some kayakers prefer to go barefoot, but you may wish to bring your own boat shoes (your feet will get wet!).  We do have booties available; however, our supply is limited.

Orientation

Once you are suited, our trained water staff will provide paddling instruction and general information about the bay.

What to bring?

Kayakers are welcome to bring cameras and we provide a dry bag to keep your items dry and secure. Also, bringing a small towel or change of clothes for afterwards is a good idea in case you do get wet.

Safety

Our trained and professional staff keeps a close eye on you and the water conditions. All guides communicate by cell phone or radio, and should you experience any difficulty, we do maintain a chase boat “The Lady Adventure” closeby to assist should a situation arise.  We do ask that individuals not consume alcohol prior to their kayaking adventure.
